Corporate Improv
Training
Help your team communicate with curiosity, collaborate more openly, and think more creatively.
- As seen in: The FT, The Times, The Guardian, BBC...Discover the power of improv for business
For over a decade, The Free Association has been using the principles of improvisation to help teams at some of the world’s leading companies communicate better, collaborate more effectively, and think in genuinely new ways.
When an improviser walks on stage, they have no script and no idea what’s coming next. What they do have is the ability to listen fully, support the people around them, and make something unique and impactful out of uncertainty. These are the skills every great team runs on – and we know how to teach them.

Building an Idea-Friendly Environment
The best teams don’t rely on talent alone: they have to be open-minded. This means being open to uncertainty, and to the possibility that the next great idea might come from somewhere unexpected.
At The Free Association, we call this an Idea-Friendly Environment. It means creating a space where psychological safety really comes to life. Our corporate training creates environments where people speak up, take creative risks, and build on each other’s thinking (without the fear of getting it wrong).
Our methodology
We let the learning happen through doing. Our workshops are built on the principles of long-form improvisation: the same techniques that professional performers use to create something compelling from nothing, in real time, together.
Translated into a workplace context, those principles become practical tools for communication, collaboration, and creative thinking. The results stick because they’re felt, not just heard.

Need something built for you?
Not every challenge fits a standard workshop. We work with you to design bespoke programmes from scratch, tailored to your team’s specific needs, goals, and dynamics. You define the outcomes; we use improv to get you there.
We’ve built custom programmes for teams of 14, and for global inductions for 1,000-plus – so whatever you’re working with, we’re ready.
“The way it linked back to day-to-day work activities was particularly impressive.”

Frequently Asked
Questions
Do participants need any experience of improv?
None at all. Our workshops are designed for people who have never done anything like this before. All we ask is that people come with an open mind and a willingness to have a go.
How many people can take part?
Our standard workshops run with up to 14 participants per trainer. For larger groups we can run multiple sessions, and our bespoke programmes have been delivered to organisations of 1,000-plus.
Can you come to us?
Yes. We’re based in London but run workshops across the UK, in person and online.
How do we know it will work?
We’ve worked with over 500 individuals across BlackRock, Amazon, TalkTalk, Netflix, Just Eat, and Irish Life, measuring impact across communication, confidence, team cohesion, and creativity.
