Training for Leadership
Build your leadership skills: listen better, communicate with clarity, and bring out the best in the people around you.
What makes a great leader?
The best leaders aren’t the loudest person in the room: they are people who empower those around them. To build more engaged, proactive and productive teams, you must learn how to support and elevate the people you are leading.
Many leaders talk when they should listen. They fix when they should ask, and they take up space when they should create it. As a result, their teams wait for direction rather than taking initiative, and stay quiet rather than speaking up.
This workshop is valuable for leaders at any level. It is particularly well suited to:
- New managers making the transition from individual contributor to team leader
- Senior leaders who want to model better listening and create genuine psychological safety
- Leadership teams looking to build a more open, collaborative culture
- Organisations investing in management development beyond the textbooks
“It made me realise that I overestimated my listening skills and challenged how open I am to accepting other people’s ideas. ”
What does the workshop cover?
This interactive session focuses on the practical skills that make people worth following.
We help leaders develop curiosity, collaboration and creativity, not just in themselves, but in the people around them. Participants will practise listening without an agenda, making space for others to contribute, and saying “yes and” to the ideas of others.
The workshop is based on the techniques that make great improvisers, but there is no requirement to be funny.
What will participants learn?
PLUS: Go deeper on Feedback
Leaders must be open to feedback – and able to deliver it in a way that inspires growth. For teams who want dedicated time on this topic, we offer an optional add-on session exploring the art of giving and receiving feedback, using real-life scenarios and our signature experiential approach.
Discover the power of acceptance, the opportunities that can come from failure, and the true gift that lies in constructive feedback.
How do we deliver training?
We believe in learning through doing, not watching. The exercises in this workshop are rooted in the principles of long-form improvisation – the same techniques that professional performers use to create something from nothing, together, in real time.
In a workplace context, those principles become practical tools. The learning is actually felt in the room, meaning it tends to stick.
Central to everything we do is creating an Idea-Friendly Environment: a space where speaking up feels safe, creative risk-taking is encouraged, and ideas are built on rather than shut down.
Why choose the FA?
“The way it linked back to day-to-day work activities was particularly impressive.”
