One-off Improv Classes
Explore one-off improv workshops, special courses, and drop-ins from the FA and guest teachers.
About our additional classes
Through the year, we offer a range of one-off workshops, drop-ins, short and long courses – covering a variety of improv-related topics. These classes are designed to sit alongside our core programme: deepening or supplementing the skills you’re building through the pathways.
Enhance your stage presence, master particular improv formats and techniques, or simply get your reps in – at a class hosted by our amazing FA teachers or by visiting guest teachers.
Most require you to have completed our Level 2 course, though prerequisites vary – check each listing before booking.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Do I need to have completed the FA’s core programme first?
Most of our additional classes require you to have completed at least Level 2 of our Foundation Pathway. Some require all three levels. Prerequisites vary, so check each listing before booking.
Who teaches these classes?
A mix of our own teachers and invited guests. Guest teachers are typically working improvisers or comedy professionals who bring a specialist perspective. Check each listing for details.
How do I find out about new classes?
The programme changes throughout the year. The best way to stay across it is to join our mailing list – we announce new classes and guest teachers there first.
I’ve trained elsewhere. Can I join?
It depends on the class. Some are open to students with equivalent experience from other schools – if that’s you, drop us a line at hello@thefreeassociation.co.uk before booking and we’ll let you know if it’s a good fit.
Can I pay with a deposit?
We require full payment upfront for workshops and short courses. Longer courses have the option to pay a 25% deposit, with the remainder due before the start of class.
