Narrative - Level 2

About this class

Now that you understand the basics of storytelling in improv, it's time to make them fun! Building on the core narrative principles in Level 1, this course will focus on honing students' instincts for what makes a good show. Whilst reintegrating the FA's approach to Game, students will learn to balance good storytelling discipline with hilarious characters and scenes. Working in a longer show format, students will learn to work together to give the show what it needs.

In this class you will:
  • Learn how to balance Game and Storytelling intuitively for the good of the whole show.
  • Learn how to use tools like genre, pacing and stagecraft to different kinds of story effectively.
  • Build confidence and trust in your teammates to manage multiple threads and to earn moments of surprise, delight and intrigue.
  • Learn to be more dynamic and emotive in your choices to create scenes and stories.
